Available Dumpster Sizes - Which is Best for my Project?

They say size matters. And we agree — at least when it comes to the size of the Bin There Dump That bin rental needed to help you complete your next project.

Bin sizes are measured in cubic yards. In case you can’t remember your high school geometry that means measuring the length, width and height of the container and multiplying the three numbers together. For example, a bin that is 2 yards long, 2 yards wide and 1 yard tall is 4 cubic yards.

Whether you’re doing a small clean up or a major renovation, there is a bin for your job. In Canada, bins come in 4-, 9-, 12-, 14-, and 20-yard sizes. In the United States, sizes include 4-, 10, 15, and 20 yards.

Remember, our bins don’t sit directly on and won’t damage your driveway. They’re clean and fit the confines of most homeowner association regulations. The only challenge is deciding what size dumpster to get. Here is some help.

Small Projects For A 4-Yard Dumpster

The four yard dumpster is a good fit for small jobs — a (one-car) garage clean out or maybe a small renovation job. If you’re getting rid of small appliances, clearing out your closets or transforming a former office into a workout room, you’ll need somewhere to dump all those items.

Maybe you’re in need of a small roof repair or clearing out last year’s failed garden.

These are all perfect jobs for a small bin.

Medium Projects For 9-, 10- And 12-Yard Dumpsters

The 9- and 10-yard bins are our franchise operators’ most commonly requested.

They can serve the almost any household job (except perhaps a major renovation). If you’re clearing out a larger garage or a basement, putting on a new roof, remodeling a small kitchen or bathroom, adding or removing a patio, a mid-sized dumpster is likely a good fit for your project.

Maybe you’re installing some landscaping and you need some place to put the old sod, weeds and tree stumps. Are you building or tearing out a fence? Depending on the size of the yard and the project, one of these dumpsters is likely a good fit.

Large Projects For 14 to 20 Yard Dumpsters

These are the big boys of the bin world and are needed for the major remodeling and other large home renovation projects. If you’re adding an addition to your house or clearing out grandma’s attic, a larger bin might be the right fit.

Or, now that the kids are out of the house and you’re ready to downsize, it’s time to divest yourself of decades of toys, furniture, and other stuff you no longer need…

If you’ll forgive the paraphrase from Jaws, “You’re going to need a bigger bin.”
